Throwback Thursdays #8 – Marvin Gaye

Hey lovers and friends! Our throwback artist for this Valentine’s Day is American-Singer/Songwriter and musician, Marvin Gaye.  He was a flawed genius who was beaten by his father,  raped by his uncle, went through two divorced marriages, dealt with heavy drug abuse, and at the age of 44 was shot and killed by his own father.  Singing in church choirs and doo-wop groups since he was a child, Marvin knew he could not do anything else with his life but music.  His voice was versatile and his singing mannerisms were influential to even the greatest artists such as Michael Jackson(the “oOOooO” part).  The magnitude of Marvin Gaye’s influence on R&B and soul music was recognized when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. His music continues to influence and inspire singers and songwriters today.
